About Our Firm.
A legacy of architectural excellence in Western Pennsylvania.
Who We Are
Today’s Canzian/Johnston & Associates (CJA) is a modern, forward-thinking architectural practice led by partners Antoni Canzian, Dan Macek, and Heather Werkeiser.
Legacy Found, Future Built
The Foundation (1981–2017): Originally founded in 1981 by Tom Canzian and Harold (“Jay”) Johnston III, the original partnership established a decades-long reputation for client-focused service and design excellence.
The New Firm (2018–Present): Following Jay Johnston’s retirement in January 2018, CJA was re-established as a brand-new entity. While we retain the historic name and foundational values of our predecessors, we operate today as a distinct, modernized practice. Having collaborated together for over 30 years, our leadership marries deep-rooted expertise with a fresh, contemporary approach to modern architecture.
