The Architectural firm of Canzian/Johnston & Associates, LLC was founded in 1981 by Harold Johnston and the late Thomas
Canzian and is located in the historic Parnassus National Bank Building in the City of New Kensington, PA. CJA provides a full
range of architectural services for light industrial, commercial, recreational, religious, institutional and residential projects. The firm
has a particularly strong resume in the field of federally assisted multi-family housing and in K-12 educational projects. CJA has a
great deal of experience dealing with government entities at all levels and with navigating the often voluminous regulations
associated with projects funded partially or totally with public money.
Our passion for historic preservation and reuse is evidenced in our own building which we restored into a modern, efficient office
space while retaining the character of the century old structure. We are also strong proponents of sustainable design with our own LEED Accredited Professional on staff and are a
member firm of the U.S Green Building Council. We have always prided ourselves in providing highly creative design solutions that meet our clients’ needs and are achievable within
their budget constraints. Our primary objective is to establish a close working relationship with our clients. This relationship, along
with an open ear, helps to ensure our responsiveness to our client’s needs and requirements. The success of this objective can be
measured in terms of client loyalty. Many of our clients have continued utilizing our services since the establishment of the firm.
Imaginative, innovative, experienced, and professional are the words that describe our staff. They possess the unique combination of
artistic and technical skills required to take complex projects from conception through construction. CJA is small enough to provide
individualized service and not overwhelm the client. Yet, it has a strong track record with large scale projects. CJA is a small,
responsive firm with big firm capabilities.
